Civil Code: Neighborhood Relationship

Chapter VII Neighborhood Relationship
Article 288 The obligees of neighboring real properties shall establish and maintain harmonious, fair, and reasonable neighborhood relationship conducive to life, work, and mutual assistance.
Article 289 Neighborhood relationship shall be governed by laws and administrative regulations or by local customs in the absence of an applicable provision in the law or administrative regulation.
Article 290 The obligee of real property shall provide necessary convenience for the water supply or drainage of the obligees of neighboring real properties.
The consumption of natural water flow shall be reasonably distributed among the obligees of neighboring real properties. Natural water flows shall be discharged in their natural directions.
Article 291 The obligee of land shall provide necessary convenience for the obligees of neighboring real properties to use such land for passage or any other necessary purpose.
Article 292 The obligee of land or building shall provide necessary convenience for the obligees of neighboring real properties to use such land or building for constructing or repairing buildings, laying wires, cables, water, or heating or gas pipelines, or any other necessary purpose.
Article 293 The construction of buildings shall not violate the applicable construction standards of the State or hinder the ventilation, daylight or sunshine of neighboring buildings.
Article 294 The obligee of real property shall not dispose of solid wastes or discharge air, water or soil pollutants, noise, luminous or electromagnetic radiation, or any other hazardous substances in violation of laws or administrative regulations.
Article 295 The excavation of lands, construction of buildings, laying of pipelines, or installation of equipment by the obligee of real property shall not endanger the safety of neighboring real properties.
Article 296 The obligee of real property who uses any neighboring real property for water supply, drainage, passage, pipeline laying, or any other purpose shall exert every effort to avoid damage to or loss of the obligee of neighboring real properties.
