Content of an Arbitration Award
An award should contain the following:
- the personal information of the claimant and the respondent;
- the claim and relief sought by the claimant;
- the counterclaim and relief sought by the respondent, if any;
- the ascertained facts and admitted evidence as the basis for rendering the award;
- the result of the arbitration;
- the allocation of the arbitration fees and other costs;
- the time period for the claimant and/or respondent to perform the obligations under the award;
- the liabilities for failure to perform the award within the specified time period;
- the date and place of the award; and
- other necessary information.
The facts, evidence, and grounds as the basis of the award may be omitted from the award if:
- the claimant and the respondent so agree; or
- the award is based on the settlement agreement reached between the claimant and the respondent.
