Arbitration Procedures

Arbitration Procedures
The arbitration procedure is divided into three steps: submitting the petition, exchanging papers, and holding the hearing.
The petition must first be filed. This document initiates the arbitration procedure and explains the concerns to be resolved. The petition must be submitted to the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or another body of a similar kind.
The second step is to serve the petition and notice of arbitration to the opposing party. The notification must be served within a certain time, usually 30 days.
The arbitration hearing will be held as the third phase. This is the stage at which both parties present their cases and dispute their points. A panel of three arbitrators normally conducts the hearing. The arbitrators will deliver a binding verdict after hearing both parties.
